Fostering Support Worker - Chesterfield - Maternity Cover - Part Time

Five Rivers Child Care is a Social Enterprise committed to transforming the lives of children and young people through reinvesting our surplus in children’s futures.

We are seeking to appoint a Fostering Support Worker on a Part‑Time basis (
22 hours a week
) to provide support to our Supervising Social Workers and Foster Carers throughout Chesterfield, Worksop, Sheffield, Derby, Nottingham, Mansfield and all places in between. A full UK driving licence is required for this role as it involves extensive driving across the above areas.

Responsibilities Include:
  • Promote the welfare of children/young people placed with Five Rivers Child Care Group.
  • Be involved in the practice aspects of supporting young people in their placements and to assist in the on‑going placement process.
  • Work directly with children/young people in a skilled and focused way as part of an agreed programme of work, some of whom may have experienced severe trauma.
  • Co‑ordinate groups and joint work for all children/young people, both in the home and community.
  • Plan, prioritise, and manage own workload.
  • Collate accurate records and create meaningful reports.
  • Support each young person in accordance with their care plan, and within the policies and procedures of the agency.

We’re seeking a caring, passionate, and motivated individual who enjoys interacting with young people. Candidates must be friendly, with a strong work ethic, a positive attitude, and a genuine passion for providing our young people and carers with high‑quality support. You may work with children and young people with a range of complex needs including learning difficulties, autism, and trauma.

You must be able to work as a team member to achieve the best outcomes for the children, and able to communicate effectively with children and adults. Experience of working in the fostering sector and/or children/young people would be an advantage but is not necessary.
