We're looking to recruit a Software Engineer to work within the Loans & Affordability Platform in Chester.

You will be helping to build,maintain and enhance our Loans journey which process a high volume of all transactions across the UK.

Whatyou’llneed…..
  • Understanding of application development and familiarity with technologies such as Java (ideally Java 17/21), Spring Boot, RESTful APIs, and web services.
  • Knowledge of the software development lifecycle, preferably within an Agile environment, with some exposure through academic projects, internships, or personal work.
  • Knowledge of development best practices and continuous integration/continuous delivery (CI/CD) concepts, with familiarity with tools like Jenkins or similar.
  • Ability to write simple to complex, maintainablecode and a willingness to learn how to build modular and testable applications.
  • Ability to learn, troubleshoot and diagnose issuesusing tools such as Splunk, Dynatrace, or Kibana.
  • Knowledge of version control systems, especially Git.
  • Good understanding of IT service management concepts, such as Change, Incident, and Problem management.
  • Experience with agile development practices and an interest in learning about test automation tools and techniques (e.g., TDD, BDD, Cucumber, Gherkin).
  • Familiarity with cloud platforms such as IBM Cloud, Google Cloud Platform (GCP), Microsoft Azure, or Amazon Web Services (AWS).
  • Better understanding or interest in container technologies like Kubernetes or Open Shift.
  • Familiarity with testing methodologies such as Test Driven Development (TDD) and Behaviour Driven Development (BDD).
