Who are we and who are we looking for - Commercial Sales Manager

We’re looking for a commercially driven, people-focused Commercial Sales Manager to lead our field sales team at Zest Outdoor Living—a multi-award-winning British brand and part of the family-run P&A Group of Companies, with over 40 years of heritage and an exciting future ahead.

Based on the outskirts of Chester, this is a leadership role with national reach. It is ideal for someone who thrives on delivering profitable growth through strong sales execution, coaching high-performing teams and building meaningful customer relationships.

You’ll lead from the front in supporting our Regional Account Managers and ensuring we deliver against our sales plans. You’ll also play a key role in strengthening how we work by embedding structured insight gathering and developing a sustainable, process-led approach to growth and improving sales systems.

  • Salary of £50,000 plus dependent on experience

What will I be doing as a Commercial Sales Manager in the day to day?

As Sales Manager, you’ll take ownership of field sales performance and lead the delivery of our agreed sales targets with the confidence to intervene and reset priorities where required. You’ll ensure the team is focused, motivated and equipped to succeed—while supporting national accounts and helping unlock new business opportunities.

Your role will include
  • Holding the sales team accountable for performance and standards, addressing underperformance promptly and constructively
  • Implementing the annual sales plan in line with the commercial strategy
  • Stepping into priority opportunities, key accounts or problem areas where needed
  • Supporting business development activity to deliver growth through national accounts and online retailers
  • Work cross functionally to remove blockers to sales delivery, challenging and escalating where needed to protect performance and customer outcomes
  • Ensuring Salesforce CRM is used consistently and accurately to support forecasting, decision making and performance discussions
  • Capturing structured customer and competitor insights to inform product development and service improvement
  • Representing Zest at key trade shows such as SOLEX to generate leads and strengthen market presence
  • Collaborating across Marketing, Customer Experience and Supply Chain to improve systems and account delivery

You’ll be a confident, commercially aware sales lead with a track record of driving sales and achieving targets. We’re looking for:

  • Effective communication and negotiation skills
  • Ability to analyse and interpret sales data, making informed decisions
  • An excellent networker
  • Proven experience of managing and developing field sales teams
  • Willingness to travel
  • Proactive style of working and demonstrable experience of achieving sales targets
  • Proven experience leading and developing a field based sales team, with strong commercial judgement and a track record of delivering results. Formal qualifications are less important than demonstrated leadership capability, commercial decision making and sales performance.
