Consultant in Obstetrics & Gynaecology
Working Full Time: 10 sessions per week
Job SummaryThis is an exciting opportunity for a substantive Consultant in Obstetrics & Gynaecology to join the team in our new state‑of‑the‑art purpose‑built Women & Children’s Building opened September 2025. The successful candidate will join an existing team of 13 dynamic consultants and will be expected to deliver clinical excellence and demonstrate a strong commitment to multi‑professional working. The role includes antenatal clinic, labour ward cover, general gynaecology clinic, caesarean section lists and emergency gynaecology, with additional sessions depending on the applicant’s skills.
On a 10 PA contract, non‑working sessions will be facilitated.
- Participate in the non‑resident 3rd on call rota (currently 1 in 12).
- Take an active role in local, regional and national quality and safety agendas in Obstetrics and Gynaecology, with opportunities to develop leadership skills.
- Be flexible in role, ensuring safe, kind and effective care.
- Contribute to ongoing professional development and service improvement within the Trust.

Person Specification Essential- Full GMC registration.
- MRCOG or equivalent.
- On Specialist Register of the GMC or within six months of anticipated CCT date at interview.
- Clinical training and experience in general obstetrics and gynaecology equivalent to UK CCT.
- ATSM in specialist interest subject.
- Other relevant ATSM in Obstetrics and Gynaecology.
- Experience/interest teaching.
- Understanding of the role of Clinical Audit within Service.
- Appropriate research and evidence base to practice.
- Further higher degree (MD/MSc).
- Relevant research in the speciality.
- Diploma/Certificate in Medical Education.
