Job Overview

Three Advanced Clinical Lead positions are available in the inpatient unit at Bowmere Hospital. These roles are Band 7, permanent, full‑time (37.5 hours per week) with a salary range of £47,810–£54,710 per annum. Closing date: 16/01/2026 23:59.

Main duties of the job
  • Provide clinical leadership across unit teams and offer management support.
  • Drive continuous quality improvement initiatives, including evidence‑based practice, clinical audits and monitoring of clinical standards.
  • Act as a source of clinical expertise, supporting and assessing complex cases and collaborating with internal and external professionals.
  • Lead staff development by delivering training, clinical supervision, coaching, mentoring and fostering a high‑performance work environment.

Person specification Qualifications
  • A relevant Social Work, Nursing or Allied Health Professional degree level qualification or equivalent experience.
  • Current registration with a nationally recognised professional body relevant to the qualification held.
  • Minimum 5 years post‑registration experience.
Desirable criteria
  • Masters level qualification or equivalent short courses and/or experience.
  • Teaching qualification or significant experience.
Knowledge & Expertise
  • Excellent communication skills across staff, patients, carers, general practice and written reports.
  • Proven ability to challenge and change current practices based on evidence‑based recommendations.
  • Knowledge of local and national policy direction relevant to practice.
  • Experience of clinical audit and facilitation of staff to undertake clinical audit.
  • Knowledge and experience of guiding staff through the change management process.
  • Ability to empower staff to manage and support change.
  • Demonstrable effective clinical leadership with application of leadership theories.
  • Relevant clinical expertise to support and facilitate clinical development and innovation.
  • Evidence of sound information technology skills.
Experience
  • Experience in the development of professional roles.
  • Successfully managed projects demonstrating communication and implementation of change.
  • Understanding and experience of the clinical and corporate governance agenda.
  • Experience facilitating reflective practice for staff and personal reflective practice.
  • Ability and experience motivating and empowering others to change roles and leading practice development.
