VAT Accountant – Tax Centre of Excellence (Europe)

Contract: 9‑month contract initially with possibility of extension!

This is a fantastic opportunity for someone who enjoys detail‑oriented work, problem‑solving, and collaborating across borders.

We're looking for a VAT Compliance Specialist who will ensure timely and accurate indirect tax reporting, while also acting as a go‑to advisor for VAT compliance questions from internal stakeholders.

• Manage VAT compliance and reporting for a portfolio of European and international markets
  .
• Be the first point of contact for VAT compliance‑related queries across the business.
• Stay current on local VAT legislation and contribute to the continuous improvement of compliance processes.
• Collaborate with both internal and external stakeholders, including finance teams, advisors, and tax authorities.

• Prepare and submit monthly, quarterly, and annual VAT and indirect tax returns (including EC Sales Listings, Intrastat, SAF‑T, etc.).
• Coordinate VAT return approvals, payment requests, and archiving processes.
• Perform VAT General Ledger reconciliations and investigate discrepancies.
• Reconcile GL sales vs VAT reported sales and resolve open items.
• Assist with responding to business queries and support indirect tax audits.
• Help document VAT compliance requirements and collaborate with tax technology teams on implementations and testing.
• Monitor changes in VAT legislation and evaluate impact on reporting obligations.
• Maintain VAT codes and support the continuous automation and standardisation of processes.

• 2+ years of experience in VAT compliance within a multinational, shared services, or consulting environment.
• Strong Excel skills
  ; experience with SAP or Oracle is an advantage.
• Fluency in English (additional languages are a plus).
• Ability to manage multiple priorities and work independently.
• Excellent communication skills and a collaborative approach.
• Strong analytical and problem‑solving skills.
