Location:
Chester (office-based with North West site visits) Salary: £35,000 £ 60,000 DOE The Opportunity Were recruiting on behalf of a respected civil engineering contractor with a strong pipeline of infrastructure / civil engineering projects across the North West. Theyre looking for a commercially astute Quantity Surveyor who wants to be fully involved in project delivery managing costs, contracts, and commercial performance across technically interesting schemes including drainage, utilities, reinforced concrete and specialist flooring.
If you enjoy owning the numbers on complex civils packages and working closely with delivery teams, this is a role where youll genuinely make an impact. About the Projects Youll be working across a varied portfolio of civil engineering and infrastructure works, including:
Drainage and utilities installations Reinforced concrete structures and bases Concrete flooring and slabs Groundworks and infrastructure packages Enabling works and deep excavations Civils works within live or operational environments Projects are predominantly North Westbased with a mix of industrial, infrastructure and specialist schemes.
The Role This is a delivery-focused Quantity Surveyor position covering the full commercial lifecycle from subcontract procurement through to final account. Youll work closely with project managers and engineers to ensure projects are commercially controlled and profitable.
Key Responsibilities Manage project costs from start to final account Prepare and manage subcontract packages and procurement Measure works and value completed activities Assess and agree variations and change events Produce valuations, forecasts and cost reports Monitor budgets and commercial performance Review drawings and identify commercial risks/opportunities Manage subcontractor accounts and payments Support contract administration (NEC/JCT) Contribute to value engineering and cost optimisation Liaise with site teams and clients on commercial matters Some estimating skills would be desirable
What Were Looking For Experience as a Quantity Surveyor in civil engineering or groundworks Strong knowledge of measurement and cost control
Experience with drainage, utilities, concrete or infrastructure works Confident managing subcontractor accounts and variations Good understanding of NEC or JCT contracts Commercially aware and detail-focused Collaborative and proactive approach Why Apply £35,000 £ 60,000 salary depending on experience Secure, long-term pipeline of civils projects Technically interesting concrete and infrastructure work Established contractor with repeat clients Supportive team and clear progression North West project base
