Position Purpose
The job of Supervisor of Career and Technical Education (CTE) was established for the purpose/s of supervision, planning, developing, implementing, assessing, coordinating, supervising Career and Technical Education program services and the Career and Technical educational program in accordance with Board of Education Policies, administrative procedures, rules and regulations and applicable law.
  • To provide leadership in CTE program development and improvement, as well as in professional staff development
Essential Functions
  • Oversees the administration of Career and Technical Education programs consistent with school district goals and objectives and state and federal mandates.
  • Provides leadership and direction to staff with regard to the ongoing evaluation and improvement of CTE programs, including curricular and extra-curricular activities.
  • Oversees the daily operations of the CTE programs (e.g. establishes and maintains procedures for the accountability and safe keeping classrooms, equipment and supplies; assists in the process of analyzing, reviewing, and recommending new equipment for CTE programs; oversees the studentadmission/enrollment and assessment process; determines need, schedules and supervises teacher assistants; directs the Career and Technical Student Organization and oversees the Occupational Advisory Committees.
  • Oversees and coordinates the data collection for PDE reviews including Perkins and Chapter 339 Approved Program Evaluation, ensuring that all programs and instructors are in compliance with these state and federal mandates.
  • Updates CTE program and instructor information yearly in the PDE CATS system, ensuring that all information is correct and in compliance with PDE Guidelines for Program Approval of CTE programs.
  • Collects and provides required CTE state reporting data to the district PIMS administrator for yearly CTE report.
  • Oversees the Perkins grant funding in consortium with the Delaware County Intermediate Unit, determining use of funding in coordination with central office staff and ensuring all Perkins grant funds are used to purchase approved equipment and supplies in accordance with the Perkins guidelines.
  • Promotes a school environment that is safe and conducive to individualized instruction, cooperative curriculum development in alignment with CTE competency task lists, and student learning.
  • Assists in ensuring the Board policies and procedures are implemented and followed in CTE programs.
  • Continues to acquire professional knowledge and learn of current developments in the educational and CTE field by attending seminars, workshops or professional meetings, or by conducting research.
  • Encourages staff to continue to grow professionally and to experiment with new approaches or strategies to teaching.
  • Assists in coordinating the work of school staff and school district program leaders to develop and implement instructional programs and teaching practices.
  • Conducts ongoing assessment of student learning and works with the CTE faculty to modify instructional methods to fit students' needs, including students with special needs.
  • Assists in the recruitment and selection of employees, the proper maintenance of employee personnel files, the administration of collective bargaining agreements, corrective action, and other human resources issues.
  • Involves staff in the evaluation of programs and the planning of new programs.
  • Encourages parental involvement in student' education and ensures effective communication with students and parents.
  • Ensures that student conduct and attendance conform with the school's standards and school district policies.
