Fall Intern - Social Services/Employment ServicesJoin our dynamic team this fall and gain hands‑on experience in Employment Services within the Department of Human Services/Social Services
. This internship offers meaningful exposure to public service, workforce development, and case management.
- Explains the employment services program
- Makes assessments of customer needs and develops employment plans, utilizing job search, work experience, education and training.
- Establishes and monitors self‑sufficiency goals through information and assessment of customer background.
- Monitors case reports/records in accordance with regulations.
- Interviews persons for assistance, obtains necessary information
- Evaluates employability status of clients and explores potential sources of income
- Explains client responsibilities, rights and program availability;
- Refers clients to service worker as the result of overall assessment of situation;
- Prepares reports and maintains client records;
- Real‑world experience in a government social services setting.
- Mentorship and networking opportunities.
- Contribution to meaningful community work.
- Providing their own transportation to and from work.
- Arriving at the work site at the time designated by the worksite supervisor.
- Performing the tasks assigned by the vocational instructor/coordinator and the worksite supervisor in an efficient manner.
- Demonstrating honesty, punctuality, courtesy, a cooperative attitude, appropriate dress, and a willingness to learn.
- Conforming to the guidelines of the internship worksite.
Required knowledge, skills, and abilities:
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Interest in serving the community and working with diverse populations.
- Basic proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook).
- Ability to maintain confidentiality and demonstrate professionalism.
The ideal candidate is a college student in good standing – preferably a junior, senior, or graduate student – who is currently enrolled in an accredited college or university, or who has graduated within the past year.
