Facility Maintenance Technician II
Department:
Sheriff's Office – Jail
Location:
Chesapeake, VA
Work Schedule:
Monday–Friday 7 am–3 pm
Pay Grade: GE06 (Semi‑Monthly) Salary: $42,580
The Sheriff’s Office is seeking a skilled Facility Maintenance Technician II to maintain facilities and equipment at 100 % daily in a high‑security environment. The role requires a positive attitude, teamwork, and the ability to work independently under security protocols.
Responsibilities- Perform preventive and routine maintenance on HVAC, plumbing, electrical, and mechanical systems.
- Diagnose and troubleshoot equipment issues and coordinate repairs with contractors or internal teams.
- Read and interpret blueprints, schematics, and maintenance manuals.
- Ensure compliance with safety, security, and environmental regulations.
- Maintain accurate work logs and preventive maintenance schedules.
- High school diploma or GED.
- Minimum one year of related full‑time experience in construction, maintenance, or a related trade.
- Valid driver’s license with clean driving record.
- Ability to lift 50 lb. occasionally and perform confined‑space work as required.
- Strong communication and teamwork skills.
- Experience with HVAC, plumbing, electrical, or mechanical maintenance.
- Basic skills in using hand and power tools.
- Knowledge of blueprints, schematics, and maintenance plans.
