Hammer & Steel seeks to hire a Lead Heavy Equipment Technician to join our newly acquired facility in team in Chesapeake, VA
.

Shift: Monday-Friday

Hours: TBD

Responsibilities
  • Running diagnostics, troubleshooting, and repairing hydraulic, mechanical, electrical, and fuel systems on heavy construction equipment.
  • Completes all required preventative maintenance operations including lubrications, fluid changes, and minor diesel engine maintenance.
  • Completes accurate written records of work performed.
  • Provide education to customers on equipment operation and performance.
  • Travel within assigned region, as needed, to customer job sites to provide equipment training, maintenance, and repairs.
  • Mentor and train apprentice technicians/mechanics.
Skill Requirements
  • High school diploma or GED
  • Must be 18 years of age or older;
    Valid driver's license with clean MVR
  • Seven 7 or more years of relevant heavy equipment maintenance experience.
  • Familiar and / or experience with heavy machinery, hydraulics, electrical system repair and maintenance.
  • Must be able to read hydraulic and electrical schematics and digital voltmeters (DVMs) and working kinematics.
  • CANbus and PLC knowledge.
  • Must provide own tools that are adequate to perform job functions.
Preferred Requirements:
  • Supervisory or experience leading teams
  • Ten 10+ years of heavy construction equipment experience
Compensation
  • $5,000 sign on bonus
  • Highly competitive wages: up to$40/hr
    based on experience and education
