Interactive Courseware/IETM Analyst
In this position, you will work with systems experts, program planning personnel, and operational personnel to create and maintain performance solutions. Work will emphasize collaborating with SMEs to collect, develop, and refine content for Interactive Courseware (ICW), IETMs, and solutions combining Training ICW and IETM elements in support of NAWCAD WOLF’s Airborne Systems Integration ePerformance team at Webster Outlying Field. This position is open to candidates at all locations but is best supported by someone able to work at NAWCAD WOLF’s Webster Field location at least 2 days a week and able to come into site visit/SME interview sessions with less than 2 hours’ notice on other days.
Candidates within 80 miles of St. Inigoes, Maryland, and able to support this requirement will be given credit for this work support advantage in assessing their qualifications.
Applicants must have a bachelor's degree with at least 7 years of relevant experience, an associate's degree in a related field with at least 9 years of experience, or a high school diploma/GED with at least 12 years of experience, including 4 years of military training delivery or 6 years of military technical manual authoring experience. Experience in USN/Marine/Army/Air Force training/courseware development, S1000D IETMs, or translating DoD system engineering/system test documentation into logistics or technical manual content is strongly preferred.
A master's degree or advanced certification in instructional design, courseware development, or training may substitute for 2 years of professional experience.
Applicants must be U.S. citizens eligible to obtain a security clearance. Active security clearance is a plus. This position may require occasional non-local travel, up to approximately 10% of the time, so candidates must be able to travel for periods of up to one week as needed.
Required Skills- At least 5 years' experience translating engineering, COTS, and/or logistics source data (written and/or from subject matter experts) into task performance guidance and skill development materials for adult operator, trainer, and/or maintainer use. Alternately, at least 8 years of experience providing training or education on technical topics such as science, technology, math, or computer systems. An additional 2 years of professional training or instruction technical authoring experience on software systems or complex hardware/software use for adult learners may be substituted on a 2 year for 1 year equivalency to the 5 years of experience listed at the start of this bullet.
- Demonstrated experience and interest in participating in the full project lifecycle, from concept to delivery and sustainment of content-driven end user technical documentation especially interactive courseware (ICWs). This includes:
- requirements gathering and development of elaborated actional requirements/user stories,
- development and peer review of drafting artifacts (section/topic drafts, IETM DMs, course topics, story boards, etc)
- iteratively working with SMEs to translate source materials,
- refactoring and developing drafting starting points using an existing mix of training, instructor lead training materials, student guides, ICWs, MRC, IETM/TM content for mixed use across training and technical manual use,
- updating and evolving existing ICWs/IETMs,
- drafting new ICW/IETM and other human performance support content.
- Ability to synthesize inputs from multiple sources and resolve conflicts using existing documentation and interaction with internal/external stakeholders under project lead guidance.
- Ability to translate goals into and/or to develop effective detailed task instructions based on subject matter experts for end products.
- Ability to apply style and authoring guides consistently to written content.
- Excellent oral, written, and interpersonal communication skills to collaborate effectively with team members and customers at all levels.
- Ability to work in a focused, dynamic, and fast-paced team environment while meeting accountable deadlines.
