POSITION TITLE:
Assistant Resident Care Director
DEPARTMENT:
Nursing Administration
REPORTS TO:
Resident Care Director
- Must possess a valid LPN or RN license in good standing in accordance with state laws.
- Minimum of one (1) year of full‑time or equivalent clinical experience required.
- Comply with federal, state and local health and regulatory standards and guidelines.
- Must have at least a high school diploma or GED.
- Must work well with peers in a congenial work environment and maintain compassion and dignity for residents, adhering to the Resident Bill of Rights.
- May be subject to call‑back during emergencies (e.g., severe weather, evacuation, temporary staffing shortages).
- Must adhere to Viva Senior Living’s attendance policies and employment terms set forth in the Employee Handbook.
- Must read, write, speak and understand English.
- Must maintain the highest care standards for residents and their families.
- Must comply with all facility policies and procedures.
- Administer and document medication and treatments per physician’s orders.
- Provide direct nursing care and supervise nursing assistants working with residents.
- Contribute to continuity of care and effective communication by reporting care and changes in resident condition immediately to the Resident Care Director.
- Assist residents with lifts, moves and transports using proper body mechanics or lifting devices.
- Respond to inquiries from residents, visitors and personnel promptly and courteously within established time frames.
- Know the individualized care plan for residents and support residents according to their care plan.
- Communicate and interact effectively and tactfully with residents, visitors, families, peers and supervisors, promoting a homelike environment.
- Understand all aspects of residents’ rights, including the right to be free of restraints and free of abuse; promptly report incidents of abuse or violation of resident rights.
- Drive company vehicle when required (required driver).
- Perform all job responsibilities in accordance with prescribed safety and infection control procedures, including thorough handwashing, use of disposable gloves, and proper disposal of soiled materials.
- Perform various tasks assigned by the charge nurse: checking vital signs, weighing residents, applying creams/ointments, and collecting specimens.
- Ensure residents and families receive the highest quality of service in a caring and compassionate atmosphere.
- Report any occupational exposures to blood, body fluids, infectious materials or hazardous chemicals in accordance with facility policy.
- Report work‑related injuries and illnesses immediately to supervisor.
- Complete all assigned training and skills competency as a condition of employment.
- Participate in life safety and emergency drills and trainings.
- Assist with evacuation of residents in an emergency situation.
- Maintain confidentiality of Protected Health Information, including verbal, written and electronic communications.
- Report any non‑compliance with policies, procedures, regulations or breaches in confidentiality to appropriate personnel.
- Protect residents from abuse and cooperate with all investigations.
- Report any allegations of abuse, neglect, misappropriation of property, exploitation or mistreatment of residents to supervisor and/or administrator.
- Report retaliation or discrimination to the Human Resource Director and the Compliance Officer.
- Report any suspicion of a crime to law enforcement and the state agency.
- Perform other duties as requested.
- Annual verification of a negative TB skin test.
- Ability to move intermittently throughout the workday.
- Ability to cope with mental and emotional stress of the position.
- Ability to see, hear or use prosthetics that function adequately to meet position requirements.
- Meet general health requirements set by facility policies, including a medical and physical examination.
- Ability to relate to and work with ill, disabled, elderly, emotionally upset and agitated residents.
- Ability to push, pull, move, and/or lift a minimum of 25 pounds to a minimum height of 5 feet and carry such weight a minimum distance of 50 feet.
- May be necessary to assist in evacuation of residents during emergency situations.
