Medical Assistant Certified

Overview

A Medical Assistant (MA) under the direct supervision of a physician or Advance Care Practitioner. Decisions are limited to defined parameters around work expectations, quality standards, priorities, policies and procedures.

• Responsible for rooming patients and preparing them for examination
• Takes patients vital signs which include blood pressure, height, weight and documents in EMR
• Updates patient medical record including medications, allergies, past medical & surgical history
• Preps procedure room for minor procedure and assists with those procedures as needed
• Prepares exam rooms for provider dependent on appointment type
• Cleans exam room and beds after each appointment and restocks medical supplies daily
• Assist physician and Acute Care Providers with patient examinations
• Draws blood, performs EKG, SWAB test and any additional clinical tests within clinic
• Manages physician orders by submitting to appropriate departments such as imaging, labs, scheduling surgeries, or referral to specialist. Confirm all orders are completed and that results have been returned
• Obtain Prior Authorizations as needed
• Able to check in patients, register patients, verify insurance, scan documents in patient charts, answer phones, return phone calls, and schedule appointments
• Presents strong interpersonal, written and oral communication skills

  One year of Medical Training preferred but not required

• Medical Assistant Certification
• American Heart Association BLS certification upon hire or within 90 days of start in position
• Basic Life Saving
• Certified Medical Assistant
• Registered Medical Assistant
