Overview
Carter Machinery Company, the authorized Caterpillar dealer serving Virginia, West Virginia, Maryland, Delaware and Washington D.C., is hiring a Field Service Advisor in Chesapeake, Virginia. The Field Service Advisor communicates with internal and external customers to gather information regarding equipment issues and provide repair status updates while repairs are in progress; opens/processes work orders in a thorough and timely manner using detailed customer requests/complaints to ensure technician understanding and customer satisfaction.
ResponsibilitiesResponsibilities include:
- Communicate with customers to gather information about equipment issues and provide update on repair status.
- Open and process work orders efficiently and with thorough details to ensure technician understanding and customer satisfaction.
- Coordinate with internal teams and external customers to resolve issues and communicate progress.
Minimum qualifications:
- Minimum two years service-related experience; heavy equipment exposure.
- High School diploma or equivalent, required.
- Must be proficient with Microsoft Office products.
- Must have excellent customer service skills and the ability to deal with stressful situations.
- Must be a strong communicator with excellent oral and written communication skills.
- Must be able to effectively multi-task.
- Must have an attention to detail.
- Working knowledge of the function and repair of heavy construction equipment preferred.
- Must be able to work any shift.

Physical requirements must be met for the Field Service Advisor role, including regularly being required to sit and talk or hear. The employee is frequently required to stand, walk, use hands to finger, handle, or feel and reach with hands and arms. May occasionally lift and/or move up to 20 pounds. Specific vision abilities required include close vision, distance vision and ability to adjust focus.
