Part-Time High School Teacher-Tutor

Grade Power Learning Chesapeake is looking for an upbeat reliable, enthusiastic, dynamic part-time High School Math & Science Tutor who wants to work in a rewarding teaching environment. Candidates must possess a strong background in math (and be comfortable with science) as well as be comfortable with teaching students from 9th-12th grade, at all levels.

Tutors at Grade Power Learning do not have to lesson plan before class, as all lessons are pre-planned. Applicants will be fully trained in our proprietary philosophy and methods.

Position Requirements:

All Tutors at Grade Power Learning work during after-school and evening hours. Your students will love working with you, and being reliable is a must.

This role is in-person
. You must be able to commute to this location. This is not an online position. A background check is mandatory.

We encourage you to apply if you have the majority of the following requirements:

Education
:

• Bachelor’s degree or similar certification in a relevant field
• Fourth year university students with tutoring experience will be considered
• Teaching certification an asset
• Strong knowledge of the current 9th to 12th grade curriculum

Experience
:

• Experience teaching/tutoring math, science or English at a 9th to 12th grade (or equivalent) level
• Math instructors must have strong skills in Advanced functions, Calculus, Linear Algebra, Data Management and Trigonometry
• Proficiency in Physics and/or Chemistry is preferred
• Strong math and science skills and ability to guide students’ understanding
• Ability to multitask and balance working with up to three students at a time

Responsibilities (Position Details):

You will work directly with students as an Interactive Coach with the following responsibilities:

• Teaching up to 3 students at a time at different levels
• Teaching in-person
• Following the Grade Power Learning methodologies and philosophies
• Completing daily student communication updates
• Maintaining a friendly and professional manner at all times

Job Type
:
Part-time (approximate hours / week = 4-10)

Salary Range
: $20 - $22 / hour, based on previous experience and education

Schedule:

• Monday - Thursday 3:30pm - 7:00pm
• Saturday availability is preferred!
