Superintendent (Commercial/Healthcare Construction)

Location: Chesapeake, VA

Compensation: $120,000 – $140,000 (per year)

• Responsible for day‑to‑day on‑site management of construction activities including maintaining the project progress schedule, coordinating work with internal resources and subcontractors, preparing material takeoffs, managing materials, reviewing subcontracts, reviewing estimates, evaluating change orders, and interfacing with customers.
• Plan, direct, coordinate, organize, and schedule activities to ensure that goals and objectives of the project are accomplished within prescribed time frame and budget.
• Provide daily communications of all on‑site activities, issues, and progress to the Project Manager. Document daily construction activities via field reports which are to be completed and faxed/emailed to the Project Manager and Director of Field Operations.
• Work with the Project Manager to ensure project costs, schedule and quality are maintained.
• Review the contract documents and ensure the project is in compliance.
• Conduct weekly project meetings to coordinate and communicate project status and ensure the budget, schedule and quality expectations are achieved.
• Assist the Project Manager in the permitting process.
• Manage all subcontractors.
• Review and approve subcontractor invoices and work with the Project Manager to develop costing projections.
• Act as primary problem solver and handle conflict resolution related to field activities. Initiate corrective action as warranted to achieve the project expectations and goals.

• MUST HAVE at least 5 years of experience.
• MUST HAVE strong communication skills.
• Ability to analyze and process key information, recognize critical areas on the job that could impact profitability, and then actively navigate the project away from risks and liabilities for a successful outcome.
• Understand field productivity, as well as material and equipment costs.
• Clear understanding of how to read and understand specifications and drawings.
• Strong oral and written communication skills.
• Strong math skills.

• Strong customer service skills.
• Ability to multitask, think critically, and problem‑solve.
