Location: Chesapeake, VA (Hybrid - 1 remote day per week)

About the Role

A growing organization is seeking a detail-oriented Staff Accountant to join its accounting team. This position is well-suited for a professional who enjoys working with numbers, ensuring accuracy, and contributing to a smooth and efficient month-end close process.

Key Responsibilities

Perform monthly financial statement reviews to ensure accuracy and completeness

Prepare and complete monthly general ledger reconciliations for all balance sheet accounts

Assist with month-end close activities, including journal entries and variance analysis

Maintain organized and well-documented work papers supporting all reconciliations

Identify discrepancies and collaborate cross-functionally to resolve issues promptly

Support annual audits by preparing schedules and providing requested documentation

Assist with process improvements to enhance efficiency and accuracy within the accounting function

Qualifications

Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field

1-3 years of accounting experience preferred

Proficiency with accounting software, including Quick Books Online

Strong Excel skills (pivot tables, lookups, etc.)

Excellent attention to detail and analytical abilities

Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines
