Job Title: Staff Accountant
Location: Chesapeake, VA
Employment Type: Full-Time, Monday–Friday
Work Schedule: In-office Monday–Thursday, Remote Fridays
Compensation: $70,000–$75,000
Placement Type: Direct Hire or Temp-to-Hire
Job SummaryWe are seeking a detail-oriented and motivated Staff Accountant to support daily accounting operations and the month-end close process. This role is ideal for an organized and analytical accounting professional looking to build a strong foundation across a broad range of accounting responsibilities in a collaborative environment.
Key Responsibilities- Perform monthly financial statement reviews to ensure accuracy and completeness
- Prepare and complete general ledger reconciliations for all balance sheet accounts
- Assist with month-end close activities, including journal entries and variance analysis
- Maintain organized and well-documented work papers supporting reconciliations
- Identify discrepancies and work cross-functionally to resolve issues
- Support annual audits by preparing schedules and providing documentation
- Assist with process improvements to enhance efficiency and accuracy
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field
- 1–3 years of accounting experience preferred
- Experience with accounting software, Quick Books Online, and Microsoft Excel (pivot tables, lookups, etc.)
- Strong attention to detail and analytical skills
- Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines
