Position: Deputy Ward Manager, Urology (Fixed Term)

Overview

Job Summary
This new role will provide a deputy ward manager role to support the nursing team in the Urology department and current ward manager. This role will positively impact the experience of patients with urological and other surgical interventions by providing high standards of clinical practice and care. Provide leadership that positively impacts on the experience of patients and carers by providing high standards of clinical practice and care.

Provide clinical support, expert care and clinical leadership to support patients undergoing clinical interventions, diagnostic tests and surgery. Work collaboratively with the urology clinical team, community team to provide nursing support across secondary and primary care. Evidence of staff development to meet patients needs in specialised area of Urology.

Main duties of the job
To improve standards of specialised care by contributing to the development of practice to ensure that Urology patients and carers have a quality experience, and to reduce risk and increase safety for staff and patients. To establish working relationships throughout the urology team and hospital services. In liaison with clinical practice development team, senior specialist urology nurses and heads of nursing to support the professional development and staff caring for patients in the urological field.

Deliver clinical care and management in line with local and national guidance and best practice. Act as a patient advocate when appropriate and respect patient confidentiality and privacy with respect to diverse cultural background and requirements. Contribute to Clinical Governance within the department. Demonstrate excellent communication with patients and clinical teams to coordinate care pathway effectively and efficiently. Ensure user involvement by surveys, audit and attendance at relevant meetings.

To act as professional supervisor and participate in staff appraisals. Monitor staff mandatory training and contribute towards staff development requirements.
