Job summary
We are looking for a Senior Financial Analyst to join the Financial Management Team. Reporting to the Divisional Finance Manager, the role will assist with the provision of financial advice and analysis to support divisional management teams and facilitate decision making. The successful candidate will be a CCAB part‑qualified accountant with management accounts experience, preferably within the NHS, and will be a team player with strong verbal and written communication skills.
Key responsibilities include month‑end reporting, budgeting, forecasting, and support to operational managers in delivering financial responsibilities. You will prepare journals, monthly reports and variance analyses, participate in financial planning, and provide training to budget holders.
Main duties- Produce monthly budget statements and reports for divisions.
- Generate monthly financial forecasts and capture actions to address variations from plan.
- Provide financial costings and advice for business plans, proposals for service reconfigurations, and cost‑improvement schemes.
- Communicate financial information at appropriate forums through written and oral reports.
- Confirm budgets during recruitment processes.
- Conduct variance analyses to determine reasons for over and underspends.
- Upload budgets and actuals to the Financial General Ledger.
- Participate in annual business planning and budget‑setting processes.
- Maintain pay budgets and update as required.
- Perform other financial duties as needed and collaborate with finance colleagues.
- Degree or equivalent experience.
- Completed at least the first level of exams leading to registration as a CCAB Qualified Accountant.
- At least three years of experience in management accounts.
- Good spreadsheet skills.
- Experience with financial systems and processes.
- Previous NHS experience.
- Prior experience with Oracle Financials.
- Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.
- Sound knowledge of financial processes including budget setting, forecasting, budgetary control and management accounting.
