What to Expect

As an Apprentice Electrician with the Tesla Energy Commercial Deployment team you will work under the direction and supervision of a Licensed Electrician on all phases of commercial PV, energy storage and super charging stations. You will perform a variety of electrical tasks from distribution/production power, lighting and low voltage. Under the guidance of a Licensed Electrician, you will assist with the installation of power distribution, transformers, lighting, and electrical equipment rated 480 VAC up to 1000 VDC, inverters, batteries, and DC strings.

This role involves travel.

This role is 80% travel.

• Maintaining and troubleshooting various types of electrical components.
• Use complex electrical schematics and blueprints.
• Consult manuals, read and interpret diagrams, blueprints, and schematics.
• Perform a wide variety of job scopes (installing modules, racking and any other required tasks).
• Display a positive attitude and practice good work ethics aligned with the company mission, philosophy, and goals.
• Complete tasks in a timely manner and provide feedback.

• Must have compliant government-issued identification for domestic travel and/or access to federal facilities, a valid driver's license, and must be a Registered Trainee with the DIR or able to register in a state-approved trainee course.
• Knowledge of basic electrical theory and Ohm's Law; 1-4 years of electrical experience; knowledge of using hand tools, electrical meter, and testing equipment.
• Able to size conductors and conduits; experience with 120/208, 480/277 VAC; ability to interpret electrical prints and schematics and NEC codes.
• Ability to install electrical equipment; ability to produce parts lists and work plans from drawings or field walks; ability to produce as-built drawings and to test and commission work per Tesla procedures.
• Ability to complete job scopes outside of normal core competencies with strong safety awareness, pre-work task planning, and identification of electrical hazards and proper safety procedures.
• Physical ability to lift at least 50 lbs frequently; ability to work at high elevations and in extreme environments; ability to perform repetitious duties; strong interpersonal skills and the ability to work independently and with others; OSHA-10 or OSHA-30, CPR, Reach Fork, Boom Lift, Manlift, Forklift certifications are a plus.
• Ability to travel to numerous sites daily and travel up to 2 weeks at a time with short notice; flexibility to work weekends and/or overtime including overnight stays to support Tesla's mission.
