Primary ResponsibilitiesTo use best practices and technology within a community based residential setting to teach individuals with I/DD and behavioral challenges, how to acquire the physical, intellectual, emotional, and social skills needed to live as independently as possible. This position will be utilized as a direct support one-on-one staff which will be assigned to a specific resident to support their one-on-one needs.
This position does have the option to work in schedule as a Direct Support Professional without a one-on-one assignment when additional hours are available. If a hired Direct Support Professional/One-on-One staff works in shift without a one-on-one assignment, that employee will be paid the rate of a DSP employee.
- High school diploma or equivalent required. Prefer associate degree or higher or high school diploma (or equivalent) plus two years’ experience working with people with developmental disabilities.
- Must have a Driver’s license valid in the state of New Jersey. Employee’s driving abstract must not exceed five (5) points.
- Proven work experience as a Behavior Technician or similar role.
- Successfully complete agency training program prior to providing one-on-one care, to effectively and safely provide evidence-based interventions.
- Must remain up to date with all training and certifications required for a Behavior Technician.
- Shall be at least 18 years of age or older.
- Ability to communicate effectively with written and oral language.
- Submit to a criminal background check and be determined to be not disqualified by the Department of Human Services prior to hire.
- Agree to have their name checked against the Central Registry of Offenders Against Individuals with Developmental Disabilities
- Shall submit to drug testing and receive a clear drug screen prior to employment per Stephen Komninos Law.
- Shall submit to drug testing conducted randomly and for cause.
- Shall complete an application to have their name checked against the Child Abuse Registry Information (CARI).
- Demonstrate an understanding of inclusion, compassion and has the ability to problem solve with individuals with developmental disabilities and their families.
