Job Summary

We are currently looking for a Medical Assistant whom ideally has scribe experience to join our team. The Medical Assistant works as part of the health care team by assisting the physician in providing superior patient care in a professional, efficient, and safe manner. We are looking for an individual who is interested in and seeks a challenging, growth-oriented, dynamic, and friendly environment.

An individual with a strong work ethic along with a compassionate disposition is who we find to be most successful here. The ability to manage time efficiently in order for the practice to maintain patient flow is important. In this role, you will work collaboratively with providers helping to ensure that each patient gets high-quality, individualized care. Responsibilities include greeting and communicating with patients in a prompt, pleasant, and helpful manner in order to complete the processes involved with chart preparation and patient triage for upcoming visits, operating the electronic medical record, assisting providers in conducting minor procedures, exam room set up and breakdown.

Other responsibilities include conducting general office duties such as answering phones, scheduling patient’s appointments, filing, message relay, ensuring general organization and maintenance of patient records. An individual who works well in a team setting, supporting a cohesive work environment by effectively communicating with all team members is desired.

Job Duties

Obtains and updates histories, current problem list, allergies, and medication list for each encounter in order to ensure accurate and current data is maintained.

Obtains vitals, height and weight, temperature, pulse, BP, identify chief complaint, update Review of System if warranted and have patient complete any applicable clinical surveys/questionnaires that may pertain to their visit, enter the information into the patient’s electronic chart.

Communicate professionally with patients, doctors, and healthcare staff.

Coordinate with providers and colleagues to complete and fulfill physician orders.

Collaborate with colleagues to ensure consistent and comprehensive patient documentation of relevant communication in the practice management and electronic health records system

Process patient registration and coordinate chart preparation for upcoming visits by ensuring all required or requested paperwork is completed.

Ensures that reports from diagnostic tests ordered have been received

Fulfill medication prior authorizations upon receipt in a timely manner.

Screen telephone calls for the providers. Take accurate clinical messages and answer patient questions within the limits of own knowledge and practice policy.

Maintain the confidentiality of all patient medical records and information in a HIPPA compliant manner.

Follow all practice procedures in the accurate maintenance of and filing of patient records, documents and forms.

Complete administrative tasks as requested and other administrative and clerical duties as assigned.

Qualifications

Certification as a medical assistant is preferred but not required.

Previous experience as a Medical Scribe or in a similar position is preferred but not required.

Previous experience as a Care Coordinator or in a similar position is preferred but not required.

Previous experience as a Medical Records Clerk or in a similar role is preferred but not required.

High school diploma/GED or equivalent at a minimum is required.

Knowledge of medical terminology and administrative processes.

Familiarity with information management programs, Microsoft Office, and other computer programs.

Ability to take detailed notes and accurate documentation.

Ability to manage multiple projects or tasks and prioritize appropriately.

Highly organized with excellent time-management skills with attention to detail.

Ability to work in fast-paced situations and make sound decisions quickly.

Ability to work well under pressure.

Excellent interpersonal skills and high level of compassion.

Strong problem-solving skills.

Strong verbal and written communication skills.

Strong computer and transcription skills.

Ability to adhere to strict confidentiality requirements.
