Environmental Engineer, Maintenance Technician / Mechanic
POSITION SUMMARY
Remington & Vernick Engineers is in search of a reliable and detail‑oriented Licensed Operator to support the daily operation, maintenance, and monitoring of water and/or wastewater treatment facilities. This role is responsible for ensuring systems operate safely, efficiently, and in compliance with all federal, state, and local regulations.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES- Operate and monitor water/wastewater treatment systems, including pumps, motors, valves, and control panels
- Perform routine inspections, sampling, and testing to ensure water quality standards are met
- Adjust treatment processes based on system performance, flow rates, and lab results
- Conduct preventive maintenance and minor repairs on equipment and facilities
- Maintain accurate operational logs, reports, and compliance documentation
- Respond to alarms, system issues, and emergency situations as needed
- Assist with regulatory inspections and ensure compliance with environmental permits
- Follow all safety procedures and promote a safe working environment
- Coordinate with supervisors, engineers, and maintenance staff to resolve operational issues
- Technical capacity
- Knowledge of treatment processes, safety standards, and regulatory requirements
- Ability to read and interpret technical manuals, drawings, and operating procedures
- Personal effectiveness/credibility
- Maintain licensing credentials
- This position has no supervisory responsibilities.
- High school diploma
- 5+ years experience in water treatment, wastewater field operations or environment labs
- Valid Driver’s License
- In pursuit of class D, C, B and A license certifications
The annual base range for this part‑time position in the United States is $36.00 - $71.00 hourly
. This range represents a good faith estimate and is based on factors such as the role, level, and geographic location. The range shown reflects the minimum and maximum target salaries for this position across all U.S. locations. Within this range, individual compensation will be determined based on job‑related factors including skills, experience, education, and training.
