Job SummaryThe Retail Analyst contributes to the company’s success by modelling and analyzing retail data, customer behavior, and market trends to provide actionable insights that drive business decisions and improve bottom line results. This new role will empower stores to unlock performance potential at every level—from store operations to individual employees—across departments, categories, and items. The ideal candidate will have a highly analytical mindset and be adept at simplifying large sums of data to provide focused guidance for Operational Managers and Senior Leadership.
The Retail Analyst must be a self-starter and able to work with minimal direction. The candidate should have demonstrated prior work experience / education in areas such as:
Retail Analyst, Retail Operations, Merchandising, Purchasing, Marketing, Finance, Scheduling & Forecasting, Replenishment Methodologies.
- Ability to leverage strategic, analytical and people skills to impact the business by effectively identifying trends, opportunities, and risks across all store operations
- Aggregate and analyze data in order to provide key, simplified insights
- Evaluate business and operational challenges, lead data-driven assessments to explore solutions, and deliver strategic recommendations that address root causes.
- Support forecasting and budgeting processes with metrics-informed models and scenario analysis
- Monitor key performance indicators and proactively identify opportunities to improve
- Build and maintain reports that enable our supply chain and store operations partners to effectively manage performance, along with ensuring data integrity across all reporting platforms
- Lead discussions with business and operations partners to ensure utilization of analytical methods and systems
- Perform other ad-hoc analyses to provide cross-functional insights that facilitate business decision-making
- Identify trends to maximize efficiencies, such as- production level targets, sales yields, labor efficiencies, and other retail metrics
- Demonstrate creative thinking and intuitive problem-solving as new projects arise
- Perform additional tasks as assigned by Senior Leadership
- Bachelor’s degree in Business, Economics, Accounting, Finance, Merchandising, Retail Management, Marketing, or related field and 2 years' experience in retail analytics, merchandising, retail pricing, sourcing, or related field OR 4 years' experience in retail analytics, merchandising, retail pricing, sourcing, operations management, finance, marketing, or related field
- 5+ years of experience in an analytical and strategic role, including consulting, corporate strategy, technology; retail or e-commerce experience preferred
- Advanced proficiency in Power BI for data visualization and dashboard development
- Strong skills in Excel and SQL for data manipulation and analysis;
Proficiency in MS Office suite - Excellent business and communication skills with impact in cross-functional environments
- Expertise in quantitative and analytical problem-solving, with demonstrated ability in developing actionable insights from large datasets
- Ability to manage multiple, time-sensitive deliverables and competing priorities with excellence
- Familiarity with customer segmentation, statistics/modeling and market analysis is desirable
