Job Summary
The Assistant Manager – Warehouse Operations will be responsible for managing end-to-end warehouse activities including inbound container planning, inventory management, order fulfillment, dispatch coordination, and trucking management.
This is a night shift role based in Little Mount, Chennai , requiring strong operational expertise, team leadership, and direct coordination with US clients and vendors.

Roles & Responsibilities
1. Container Planning & Appointment Management
Collaborate with Ocean / Air Operations teams to manage container arrival appointment requests.
Finalize and confirm container appointments based on space availability and weekly inbound schedules.
Plan warehouse space utilization for smooth inbound operations.
2. Pre-Arrival Documentation & Work Order Management
Review and validate packing lists for inbound containers.
Coordinate creation of product codes and UPC codes where required.
Generate and circulate detailed work orders to warehouse personnel prior to container arrival.
Communicate special instructions and client-specific requirements clearly to the team.
3. Inbound Operations & Inventory Management
Supervise container unloading, inspection, segregation, and systematic inventory stacking.
Ensure accurate inventory receipt and updates in the Warehouse Management System (Cargo Wise or similar WMS).
Finalize inventory reconciliation and share detailed reports with clients in a timely manner.
4. Order Processing & Fulfillment
Monitor generation of Sales Orders and Picking Slips.
Ensure accurate product picking as per system-generated documents.
Oversee documentation for order picking to ensure completeness and accuracy.
Supervise checking, packing, labeling, and shipping processes.
Ensure compliance with client-specific shipping instructions, including accurate weight and dimension checks.
5. Dispatch & Trucking Coordination
Manage trucking arrangements, including coordination with AJWW trucking services when required.
Ensure proper preparation and usage of Bills of Lading (BOL).
Monitor timely dispatch and adherence to delivery schedules.
6. Team Management & Client Coordination
Lead and manage a warehouse team of minimum 20+ members.
Ensure adherence to SOPs, productivity targets, and operational discipline.
Coordinate effectively with US clients, vendors, and internal teams.
Drive continuous process improvements to enhance operational efficiency.
Mandatory Skill Set
10+ years of experience in Warehouse Operations, preferably in a 3PL environment.
Strong understanding of end-to-end warehousing processes.
Hands-on experience with at least one Warehouse Management System (WMS).
Experience working with Cargo Wise or similar systems preferred.
Intermediate proficiency in MS Excel (reporting, pivot tables, data handling).
Proven experience handling a team of minimum 20 members.
Excellent verbal and written communication skills (must be comfortable interacting with US clients).
Strong leadership, planning, and problem-solving skills.
Educational Qualification
Bachelor’s degree in Logistics, Supply Chain Management, Business Administration, or a related field preferred.
