Lead the warehousing and supply chain teams
Job Description Supply Chain Management
Develop and implement supply chain strategies aligned with business objectives.
Plan and optimize material flow from suppliers to plants and from warehouses to customers.
Identify cost reduction opportunities in transportation, sourcing, and logistics operations.
Manage vendor performance and ensure adherence to service level agreements (SLAs).
Warehouse Management
Oversee warehouse operations across multiple locations, including receiving, storage, inventory control, picking, packing, and dispatch.
Optimize warehouse layout, space utilization, and material handling processes.
Implement warehouse automation, WMS, and best practices to improve productivity and accuracy.
Ensure compliance with safety, statutory, and company policies.
Inventory Control
Maintain high inventory accuracy (target 99.8% and above).
Monitor stock levels to avoid shortages, excess inventory, and obsolescence.
Implement FIFO/FEFO practices and manage slow-moving and non-moving inventory.
Procurement & Logistics
Support strategic sourcing and contract negotiations with key vendors and logistics partners.
Manage transportation planning, route optimization, and freight cost control.
Coordinate with 3PLs, transporters, and internal fleet operations.
Performance & Reporting
Define and monitor KPIs such as inventory turnover, order fulfillment rate, logistics cost per unit, and warehouse productivity.
Prepare MIS reports and present insights to senior management.
Drive continuous improvement initiatives using Lean, Six Sigma, or similar methodologies.
Cross-Functional Coordination
Work closely with production, sales, finance, and quality teams to ensure smooth operations.
Support business expansion, new warehouse setup, and system implementation projects.
The Successful Applicant
Education:
Bachelor's degree in Supply Chain Management, Engineering, or Business Administration.
MBA in Supply Chain / Operations Management preferred.
Experience:
15-25 years of experience in supply chain, logistics, or warehouse management, with at least 5 years in a senior leadership role.
Certifications:
APICS CSCP / CPIM or equivalent certifications preferred.
Preferred Industry: Candidates from building materials industry, particularly Steel/Cement, where there are large no of warehouses/godowns
