About the Team
You’ll join the Design Technologist team, a group focused on building and evolving the foundational UI systems that power Chargebee’s products. The team owns design systems, shared components, and frontend frameworks that enable product teams to ship consistent, high-quality experiences king closely with Product Design, Engineering, and Product teams across India, the U.S., and Europe, we value strong collaboration, technical excellence, and a deep focus on usability and performance.
About the role (Job Summary)
As an Associate Design Technologist, you will play a key role in shaping how Chargebee designs, validates, and delivers scalable user experiences. As part of the Platform team, you’ll work at the intersection of design, front-end engineering, and emerging AI capabilities, rapidly prototyping, testing, and translating ideas into reusable solutions. You will support the Design Language System, contribute production-ready code, and help implement AI-driven UI patterns and workflows that improve efficiency and user experience.
Through close collaboration with Product Design, Engineering, and Product teams, you’ll enable faster decision-making and consistent, high-quality experiences across Chargebee.
What you’ll do (role and responsibilities)
Build rapid prototypes across varying fidelities from wireframes to high-fidelity interactive experiences to validate ideas and communicate design intent.
Collaborate closely with Product Design, Engineering, and Product teams to bridge UX vision with technical feasibility.
Contribute to the Platform and Design Language System by creating scalable components, patterns, and documentation used across Chargebee products.
Implement and experiment with AI-driven UI patterns, workflows, and tooling to improve user experience and team efficiency.
Deliver proofs of concept (POCs), demos, and experiential prototypes that support product discovery, stakeholder alignment, and roadmap planning.
Produce production-ready front-end code that engineering teams can adopt, extend, and maintain.
Drive consistency and quality across products by advocating for best practices in UI, accessibility, and performance.
What you’ll bring (required skills and experience)
Hands-on experience working at the intersection of UI/UX design and front-end development through professional work, internships, or meaningful personal projects.
Strong understanding of modern front-end fundamentals (HTML, CSS, JavaScript) and familiarity with frameworks such as React or similar.
Solid design sensibility, with the ability to translate design concepts into interactive prototypes and functional UI components.
Exposure to design systems or UI platforms, including contributing to reusable components, patterns, or documentation.
Interest in experimenting with and applying AI-powered interfaces, workflows, or tools to improve user experience and development efficiency.
Comfort working in fast-paced, ambiguous environments and collaborating across design, product, and engineering teams.
Clear written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to articulate ideas, trade-offs, and technical considerations.
Nice to have (preferred)
Experience working on B2B SaaS products, especially complex or enterprise-facing platforms.
Familiarity with AI-powered tools and products such as Cursor, Claude Code or similar, and an understanding of how AI can enhance user experiences.
Exposure to AI architectures and concepts such as Model Context Protocol (MCP), AI agents, or agent-based workflows.
