Job Summary:

The School Counsellor supports the emotional, social, and behavioural wellbeing of students across programmes, fostering a safe, inclusive, and empathetic environment aligned with the school's philosophy and IB Learner Profile attributes. The role involves proactive and responsive counselling interventions, collaboration with students, parents, teachers, and leadership, and facilitation of structured wellbeing programmes that promote resilience, inclusion, and holistic student development.
Role & Responsibilities:
Responsible for managing and responding to counselling referrals within defined timelines, conducting individual and group counselling sessions, preparing preliminary and baseline assessment reports, and developing Response to Intervention (RTI) plans in consultation with the Senior Counsellor and school leadership; regularly meeting with Heads of School to review cases and ensure coordinated follow-up; communicating counselling plans with parents and obtaining formal consent;

designing and implementing structured group intervention programmes addressing bullying, peer relationships, peer pressure, self-esteem, emotional regulation, and social skills; supporting the Discipline Committee through restorative practices and behavioural guidance; conducting home visits when required with appropriate consultation; maintaining comprehensive case documentation, progress reports, and feedback logs; submitting monthly reports outlining counselling trends, referrals, and wellbeing initiatives; preparing an annual summary of counselling services with key insights and recommendations for the Senior Leadership Team;

collaborating closely with teachers and families to monitor student progress; participating in supervised practice sessions and continuous professional development; and ensuring confidentiality, ethical standards, and adherence to inclusive education and wellbeing frameworks.

Education Requirements:

Bachelor's degree in Psychology, Counselling, Education, or a related field, with a Master's degree in School Counselling, Counselling Psychology, or Educational Psychology preferred; certification or professional training in child/adolescent counselling, mental health, or behaviour management is an added advantage; familiarity with IB philosophy and inclusive education frameworks preferred.
