Job Summary
The Lab Assistant supports the effective functioning of the school's laboratories by ensuring that all practical learning environments are safe, well-maintained, and adequately equipped. The role involves assisting teachers during practical sessions, maintaining inventory and cleanliness, preparing materials for experiments, and ensuring compliance with safety and hygiene standards. The Lab Assistant contributes to creating an organized and inspiring space for students to explore, experiment, and inquire in alignment with the IB philosophy of experiential and inquiry-based learning.

Job description
Prepare laboratory materials, chemicals, tools, and equipment required for experiments and design activities before each session.
Assist educators during practical classes to ensure smooth execution of experiments and projects.
Maintain proper cleanliness, organization, and hygiene of the laboratory spaces, ensuring all safety standards are met.
Monitor the usage of materials, maintain accurate stock records, and assist in timely procurement or replenishment of lab supplies.
Conduct regular safety checks and ensure all safety equipment (such as fire extinguishers, first-aid kits, and eyewash stations) are functional.
Support in setting up and dismantling experiments, models, and prototypes in science and design labs.
Maintain decorum and discipline in the lab during student use, ensuring adherence to lab rules and safety protocols.
Assist in calibration, maintenance, and safe storage of lab equipment and tools.
Collaborate with teachers to create visually engaging and educational lab displays that encourage curiosity and inquiry.
Support in waste disposal, labeling of hazardous materials, and upkeep of environmental hygiene as per safety guidelines.

Education Requirements
Bachelor's degree or diploma in Science (Physics, Chemistry, Biology).
Knowledge of laboratory safety protocols and handling of scientific equipment.
Familiarity with design tools, materials, and technology.

Experience Requirements
Minimum 2–3 years of experience working in a school or institutional laboratory setting (preferably IB or international school).
Experience managing inventory, lab maintenance, and experiment preparation.
Ability to work collaboratively with teachers and students in an inquiry-based learning environment.
Strong attention to detail, organizational skills, and commitment to safety and cleanliness.
