The Opportunity We are seeking a highly motivated and empathetic Study Abroad Counselor/Advisor to join our dedicated team in Chennai . This is a critical role responsible for providing expert guidance and holistic support to students pursuing higher education abroad. Candidates must possess significant, recent experience within the local market to understand the nuances of the student demographic and application ecosystem .
Key Responsibilities The International Education Counselor will be responsible for a full spectrum of services, including:
Personalized Counseling:
Deliver personalized one-on-one counseling sessions to students, assisting them in selecting academic programs and universities that align precisely with their interests, aptitudes, and long-term career goals.
Application Management:
Guide students meticulously through the entire application process, including comprehensive review of documentation, application submission, and managing deadlines.
Visa and Compliance:
Provide expert advice and support regarding complex student visa requirements and immigration processes for various destination countries.
Scholarship and Financial Aid:
Actively assist students in researching and applying for appropriate scholarships and financial aid opportunities available for international programs.
Market Intelligence:
Maintain and continuously update knowledge of international education trends, emerging university programs, and evolving admission requirements across key global destinations.
Outreach and Engagement:
Plan and conduct information sessions, workshops, and seminars for students and parents on various aspects of studying abroad.
Stakeholder
Collaboration:
Build and maintain effective working relationships with international universities, educational institutions, and their local representatives.
Progress Monitoring:
Track and monitor the progress of student applications in real-time, ensuring timely communication and proactive follow-up support until enrollment.
Pre-Departure Support:
Offer necessary support and practical advice on cultural adjustments, accommodation, and living logistics in foreign countries.
Essential Qualifications Educational Background:
Bachelor's degree in Psychology (preferred), Education, Counseling, International Relations, or any other related discipline.
Mandatory India
Experience:
Minimum of 1–2 years of relevant experience in educational counseling or international student advising, while currently residing and working in Chennai Tamil Nadu .
Industry Knowledge:
Strong, demonstrated understanding of the international higher education system, including application cycles, entrance requirements, and study abroad opportunities.
Core Competencies:
Exceptional communication, presentation, and interpersonal skills, with a focus on empathy and student-centered support.
Organizational
Skills:
Proven ability to manage a high volume of student cases, prioritize tasks, and maintain strong organizational skills.
