SideFX Houdini Trainer

Position: SideFX Houdini Trainer (Contract)
Job Summary We are seeking an experienced  Houdini Trainer  to deliver high-quality training in SideFX Houdini for students/professionals aspiring to build careers in VFX, animation, and procedural effects. The trainer will be responsible for curriculum delivery, hands-on mentoring, and ensuring learners gain strong practical and production-ready skills over the contract period.

Key Responsibilities  Conduct instructor-led training sessions on  SideFX Houdini
Teach core and advanced concepts including:
Procedural modeling
Dynamics (Vellum, RBD, Pyro, FLIP)
Particles and simulations
Lighting, rendering, and look development
Node-based workflows and VEX basics
Design and deliver structured lesson plans, assignments, and projects
Provide hands-on guidance, demos, and real-world production examples
Evaluate student performance and provide constructive feedback
Support students with portfolio/demo reel development
Stay updated with the latest Houdini tools and industry workflows
Coordinate with academic/production teams to align training objectives

Required

Skills & Qualifications  Strong expertise in  SideFX Houdini  (production-level knowledge preferred)
Minimum  2–5 years  of industry or training experience in VFX/CG
Hands-on experience with simulations, procedural workflows, and FX pipelines
Good understanding of VFX production pipelines
Ability to explain complex technical concepts clearly
Strong communication and presentation skills
Passion for teaching and mentoring

Preferred Qualifications  Prior experience as a  trainer/instructor
Exposure to studios, films, games, or OTT projects
Knowledge of additional tools such as Maya, Nuke, Unreal, or Redshift/Mantra/Karma
Demo reel or portfolio showcasing Houdini FX work
