Rotational Occupational Therapist, Band 6

We are delighted to offer an exciting opportunity for an Occupational Therapist to join our Band 6 rotation within acute inpatient therapy. This role is ideal for an OT who wants to develop their skills at Band 6 while gaining experience across a variety of clinical areas. Each rotation lasts 12 months and currently includes posts in the following areas:
- Critical Care, Surgery and Respiratory
- COTE
- Stroke
You will be supported to identify objectives for each rotation through a robust appraisal process and will develop both clinical and leadership skills throughout the year.

Job responsibilities- Deliver therapeutic interventions as a specialist clinician using the principles of Occupational Therapy in a client‑centred way supported by the Therapy Competency Framework.
- Work as a specialist practitioner in the clinical area, utilising theoretical knowledge, clinical experience and reasoning skills to assess, diagnose, plan and offer a range of treatment options; deliver, evaluate and amend the treatment plan. This includes patients with diverse or complex presentations/multi‑pathologies in individual or group therapy sessions, and working autonomously with guidance from the clinical lead therapist when necessary.
- Assume day‑to‑day management responsibility of the clinical area in the absence of the team leader.
- Receive supervision from a named therapist, who may not be present at all times. Supervision is provided through regular clinical reasoning sessions, observed practice, peer review and formal training.
- Work with the Band 7 clinical lead therapist to support resource use within budget. Supervision and appraisal responsibilities extend to junior therapists, support workers and undergraduates, with the support of the Band 7.
- Degree or Diploma in Occupational Therapy
- Registered with the Health and Care Professions Council
- Deliver a high level of skill in assessment and management of complex patients
- Demonstrate excellent communication skills—verbal, non‑verbal and written— when interacting with patients/carers, other team members and the MDT.
