Research Scientist
We are seeking a proactive and creative candidate to join the Technology department as an R&D Engineer, to further improve our perovskite/silicon tandem product. This role requires rapid understanding of new information, effective workload management to meet deadlines, and the application of specialist technical expertise. The candidate will be involved in the full lifecycle of cell development and should specialise in at least two of the following areas: a) the conceptual design of new cell architectures;
b) development of new processes for these architectures; c) advanced data analytics to evaluate individual experiments and big-data sets to identify critical insights.
- Conception of new cell architectures to contribute to the continual advancement of Oxford PVs mixed organic/inorganic metal halide perovskite/Si tandem cell roadmap.
- Optimisation of currently available thin‑film materials, and the development of new layers through the refinement of thin‑film deposition processes.
- Planning, executing and evaluating cell experiments to improve performance of tandem solar cells and adjacent technologies, based on an understanding of device performance and limitations.
- Applying statistical and/or machine learning methods to identify high impact parameters across your own experiments as well as big‑data sets across multiple teams and projects.
- Presenting internally and externally to collaborators, customers and at conferences, workshops or other events.
- Managing workload and tasks on projects effectively and to time, to a high quality standard.
- Supporting the wider activities of team members and contributing to multidisciplinary team meetings.
- Taking initiative, acting with confidence, and working independently on projects and project tasks.
- Building effective networks across the organisation.
- A good understanding of the physics and technology of photovoltaics.
- Experience in fabrication and characterisation of materials and thin films through a variety of deposition methods and characterisation techniques.
- Understanding of statistical data analysis and/or machine learning, and the ability to design cell experiment loops to shorten the R&D learning cycle.
- Excellent communication, presentation and written skills as part of a multidisciplinary team.
- An innovative mindset.
- Takes continuous professional development seriously.
- An understanding of the physics and technology of multi‑junction solar cells
- Knowledge of thin‑film deposition techniques and how their process parameters influence thin‑film growth mechanisms
- Prior experience with design, synthesis and characterisation of organic/inorganic metal halide perovskites and perovskite‑silicon tandem photovoltaics.
- Working towards recognised professional accreditation (e.g., CEng, CPhys, CChem, EUR ING).
- Fluent in German, both written and verbal.
- Salary commensurate with experience
- Benefit package according to location
- A fast‑paced work environment in a growing international company
- A chance to make a difference by joining our employee committees built around our values
- The opportunity to experience and support many parts of the business.
Join our team we look forward to receiving your application!
