Position: Customer Quality Leader for APQP (Visa Sponsorship Available)

Job Description Summary

Are you passionate about quality and eager to make a significant impact? We are looking for a talented Customer Quality Leader to become a key player in our Quality team. In this exciting and influential role, you will be the go-to Advanced Product Quality Planning (APQP) technical expert within the Customer Quality domain. You will collaborate with dynamic cross-functional teams, including engineering, manufacturing, and sourcing, to develop and implement robust plans that align with industry standards.

Your expertise in APQP methodologies will ensure our products consistently meet the highest quality standards and exceed customer expectations.
As a customer quality Leader, you'll also be responsible for ensuring that customer quality requirements are met and maintained throughout the product lifecycle.

This role involves acting as the primary point of contact for customers regarding quality issues, coordinating with internal teams to resolve quality concerns, and driving continuous improvement initiatives to enhance customer satisfaction.

Our Cheltenham facility manufactures power distribution & avionics equipment for global military and civil aerospace customers.

Job Description

Roles and Responsibilities

  • Lead the cross functional (Programs, Engineering & Supply Chain) APQP Implementation across the site.
  • Support the business on APQP contract language and flowdown. Help determine applicability and APQP implementation plan.
  • Support the organizations on the development and review of APQP deliverables with customers.
  • Lead the APQP processes, including the development and maintenance of APQP documentation such as Process Flow Diagrams, PFMEAs, Control Plans, and PPAPs
  • Serve as the primary liaison between the company and your customers for all quality-related matters
  • Implement and drive both tactical and strategic quality improvement initiatives to support customer disruption reduction targets, instigate overarching quality enhancement projects.
  • Facilitate practical problem solving across the organisation to resolve quality issues for GE value streams and customers. Utilising problem-solving tools to cross-functionally resolve complex manufacturing and delivered quality problems.
  • Lead and host all customer quality visits ranging from regular working level customer representative visits, through to high-profile senior executive visits.
  • Develop and maintain quality documentation, including quality plans, and corrective action reports
  • Support internal audit schedule, leading audits to support the central quality team.
  • Experience of Contract review; to question quality clauses, reinforced by supply chain capability knowledge
  • Build external industry network to learn and share best practice & experience.

Required Qualifications

  • Strong experiencein a quality role, preferably within the aerospace or automotive industry
  • Comprehensive understanding of quality management systems (QMS) and standards such as AS9100, AS9145
  • Strong understanding of APQP methodologies and tools.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build strong relationships with customers and internal teams.

Desired Characteristics

  • Strong project management skills to plan, coordinate, and execute APQP activities
  • Experience in Programmes or Project Management, with an instinctive understanding of customer needs
  • Ability to document, plan and execute several projects simultaneously and manage deadlines
  • Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail ensure completeness of quality documentation
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills to effectively liaise with customers, suppliers, and internal teams oral, written communication, and presentation skills
  • Explains complex information to others in a straightforward manner.
  • Flexibility to handle unexpected challenges and find effective solutions
