Role Description
As an Advanced Manufacturing Apprentice (AMA) you will join our Cheltenham based Supply Chain on a 3.5 year rotational scheme. The apprenticeship will train you to be an Operator building product on the shop floor within one of our 5 core business areas. Teaching will have an electrical bias and is delivered at Gloucestershire College Cheltenham Campus. You will receive 2‑day college releases each week during term time for the first two years.
In your final year you will be based on site full-time with an allocated assessor to support your final work‑based assessments.
AMAs rotate through our business, completing 8‑month rotations through our core business units:
- PCB

Rotations give you a broader understanding of our products and customers. In your final year you will typically begin to specialise in one area to refine your technical competency and product knowledge.
We support your personal, professional and academic development by giving you the opportunity to build your network and develop soft skills. Apprentices are given additional time to complete off‑job learning when on site and we arrange team‑building activities during non‑teaching time to help you develop your skills.
Our team drives community enrichment and team‑building activities that connect apprentices across schemes. You will have access to mentors and may join GE Aerospace employee‑run networks such as Women’s Network, STEM Pride Alliance and Diversity Equity and Inclusion.
Apprentices are supported by a Cohort Coach, Apprentice Manager, Rotation Manager, mentors and the wider apprentice network to ensure you meet the course requirements and get the most from the programme. Graduates can apply to almost any function within the Supply Chain; roll‑off opportunities are not limited to a specified area.
The apprenticeship trains apprentices to become Operators in our manufacturing environment. Alumni have secured roles across all core business areas within the Supply Chain. Longer‑term career growth is available – we have alumni as Team Leaders, Operations Managers, Manufacturing Engineers and senior leadership positions.
