We are seeking a dedicated, patient and nurturing SEN Teaching Assistant to join our specialist “Nest” provision within a welcoming and inclusive primary school in Cheltenham.

About the Role

This rewarding role involves working within a small, specialist class of five pupils with Education, Health and Care Plans (EHCPs). The children have high levels of need and require consistent, skilled adult support to access learning, develop independence, and remain safe within the school environment.

You will work closely alongside the class teacher and a team of Teaching Assistants to:

  • Support pupils with complex SEND needs on their personalised education pathways.
  • Help implement tailored learning programmes aligned with EHCP outcomes.
  • Maintain a safe, structured and nurturing environment.
  • Support emotional regulation, communication and social development.
  • Promote positive behaviour and engagement with learning.
  • Contribute to regular reviews and planning discussions.

This is a highly collaborative role requiring strong communication skills, resilience, and a genuine commitment to inclusive education.

The Ideal Candidate Will Have
  • Experience working with children with complex SEND, ideally within a primary setting.
  • Knowledge of EHCPs and personalised learning approaches.
  • Confidence supporting children with high needs, including social, emotional and communication difficulties.
  • A calm, consistent and proactive approach to behaviour support.
  • The ability to work effectively as part of a team.
  • A commitment to safeguarding and promoting pupil wellbeing.
  • Relevant training (e.g., Team Teach, Makaton, PECS, or similar) would be advantageous, though not essential.
We Offer
  • A supportive and experienced staff team.
  • Ongoing professional development opportunities.
  • A nurturing and inclusive school community.
  • The opportunity to make a profound impact on children’s educational journeys.
  • Safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children is central to everything we do.

All appointments are subject to enhanced DBS checks and satisfactory references.
