Overview
An exciting opportunity has arisen to join Cheltenham Bournside School as a Teacher of Maths. We are looking to appoint an enthusiastic Teacher of Maths to join a lively and enthusiastic Maths department. The successful candidate will be a key part of the team, will teach Maths across the Key Stages and will contribute to the strengths of the department. They will teach Maths to highly motivated and talented pupils from Year 7 to 13, planning and preparing courses and lessons according to their educational needs and providing guidance and advice on their further education and future careers.
You will be joining a Maths department consisting of the Head of Maths, 3 key stage leads and 12 teachers.
The curriculum is carefully planned to support and extend the acquisition of knowledge and understanding. A balanced Maths program, incorporating most of the features of the National Curriculum, is taught to pupils in Years 7, 8 & 9. Each class has one or two Maths teachers. In Year 10, students start their GCSE Edexcel syllabus course. A large number of students go on to study Maths and Further Maths at A Level.
Post-18 the numbers that choose Maths courses at university are in stark contrast to national norms.
The post would be an ideal opportunity for a new entrant to the profession although equally attractive to a more experienced colleague. We have a positive commitment to supporting Early Career Teachers and a comprehensive staff development programme.
Responsibilities- Teach Maths across the Key Stages for pupils from Year 7 to Year 13.
- Plan and prepare courses and lessons according to pupils’ educational needs.
- Provide guidance and advice on further education and future careers.
- Contribute to the strengths of the Maths department as part of a team that includes the Head of Maths, 3 key stage leads and 12 teachers.
- Support and participate in the department’s curriculum planning, assessment, and development activities.
- Qualified Teacher status with relevant Maths teaching experience.
- Ability to teach Maths across Key Stages 3–5 (Year 7–13).
- Strong planning and lesson design skills, with the ability to differentiate for varied ability levels.
- Commitment to student progress, and to contributing to departmental and wider school goals.
- Interest in continuing professional development and participation in staff development programmes.
