Responsibilities

Under the general direction from the manager, the incumbent prepares, sets up, and operates CT scanners following specific physician orders and protocols. Produces detailed computer-generated scans of the patient s head and body for diagnostic and interventional information. Performs a variety of patient care tasks including assisting patients on and off the scanner. Verifies patient identification prior to scans and enters patient information into the system from requisitions.

Ensures files are archived onto local media and networked as required. Maintains facilities in proper order. Keeps abreast of all outpatient procedures and policies within the CT department. Engages in additional duties as assigned and maintains flexibility and adaptability to departmental needs. Confirms the correct patient and exam to be performed through patient confirmation and interview. Modifies and documents as needed to ensure accurate imaging and records.

Explains exams to patients, taking into consideration individual physical, emotional, and language needs. Ensures patient compliance and understanding throughout the process. Adjusts scanners and injectors to the correct settings for all exams and sets automated and manual technical factors for safe imaging. Performs required imaging using the appropriate equipment according to department protocols and radiologist requests. Ensures exams are labeled correctly prior to transmission and that images successfully arrive in the designated system.

Adheres to all departmental and hospital policies.

Certification/License notes: ARRT or NMTCB (R), (T) or (N) registration required. License:
Applicable state licensure(s) for Radiography and Computed Tomography.
