Summary of the Position
- The mission of the Massachusetts Department of Revenue (DOR) is seeking an experienced compliance resource to implement a policy management/framework update.
- The position would be part of the Office of Internal Audit and Risk Management (IARM). IARM’s is to align Risk Management with the strategic direction of the Department of Revenue to gain full compliance with tax, child support and municipal finance laws of the Commonwealth, enforcing these laws in a fair minded and respectful manner. We will strengthen public confidence and organizational performance by embedding risk management, compliance, and assurance practices into every level of the agency—ensuring that risks are managed proactively, decisions are data-informed, and public resources are used effectively, ethically, and transparently.
- Conduct a comprehensive review and update of existing DOR policies, procedures, and standards (“policies”) to ensure compliance with current regulations and best practices.
- Lead cross-functional project management of the policy review cycle, ensuring collaborative input from all relevant stakeholders and timely implementation of approved changes.
- Schedule and facilitate interviews with key policy owners across departments to document procedural documentation and workflows that support underlying policies.
- Develop and draft new policies and executive summaries as identified through the review process to address operational gaps and emerging requirements.
- Manage and update the centralized policy repository with version control to maintain document integrity and accessibility.
- Implement a systematic review schedule to ensure all policies remain current and compliant with evolving regulations.
- Develop training materials and conduct sessions to educate staff on new and updated policies.
- Time permitting, create metrics and reporting mechanisms to track policy compliance and effectiveness.
- 6+ years’ experience in Compliance with strong focus on policy management.
- Strong writing and communication (verbal, written) skills.
- Ability to develop an actionable plan to accomplish challenging objectives.
- Strong interpersonal and collaboration skills.
- Bachelor’s degree in a related field.
