Paraprofessional / IA
Work with Middle School children, both in general education classrooms and the special education classrooms to support students academically, socially, emotionally, and/or physically.
Qualifications- Associates Degree, two years of college or passing the para test.
- Knowledge and understanding of various disabilities.
- Knowledge of school classroom procedure, including preparation and maintenance of records.
- Knowledge of special education procedures and IEPs.
- Provide support (accommodations & modifications) to students with academic tasks.
- Support students with social, communication and/or ADL skills including assisting with toileting as needed.
- Demonstrated aptitude or competence for assigned responsibilities at the Middle School level.
- Experience working with age-appropriate students in a school setting.
- Such alternatives to the above qualifications as may be found appropriate and acceptable by the principal, special education coordinator, and Director of Student Services.
- Successful candidate will have a positive attitude and must work well as a member of a team.
- Ability to build relationships with students and colleagues and provide ongoing support and direction to students.
- Ability to work as a team and collaborate.
The
C. Edith McCarthy Middle School is one of two middle schools in Chelmsford. Providing education for about 940 students from grades 7-8, we are one of the largest middle schools in the Merrimack Valley.
