Job DescriptionThe Chelmsford Public Schools is now accepting applications for the anticipated vacancy. The District reserves the right to change or not fill the vacancy based on staffing changes, enrollment, or budget.
Position: STEM Instructor

Community Education
This is a seasonal, non‑benefited position running July 6th‑August 14th. The weekly hours vary based on program needs, with program hours from 7 a.m. to 6 p.m. Morning and afternoon shifts are required.
Job Goal:
To assist in providing an enriching, exciting, and fun summer experience to children enrolled in our summer programs, ensuring all participants have a memorable time during activities.
- Maintain STEM equipment and store it in a designated area (iPads, coding kits, Legos, etc.).
- Oversee and facilitate inventory and ordering of all equipment.
- Develop age‑appropriate activities that incorporate STEM concepts.
- Stay educated on current STEM materials or be willing to learn (e.g., new software, robotics).
- Work with supervisors to select software programs for iPads (ensuring appropriate content).
- Coordinate with other area leaders to align activities.
- Maintain accurate inventories and report damaged or needed equipment to supervisors.
- Offer positive reinforcement to all children and maintain a professional demeanor.
- Assist supportive staff in the area.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Flexibility to work morning or afternoon shifts is required. Willingness to work at least 4 Monday‑Friday part‑time weeks out of the 6 weeks of operation. Additional hours may be available for planning, setup, and breakdown.
A minimum of 4 hours of pre‑planning will be expected before Summerfest opens.
Qualifications- Early childhood or elementary education background or equivalent experience.
- Knowledge and comfort with a variety of STEM products (e.g., iPad, robotics).
- Citizenship, residency, or work visa required.
