Job Description

Position:
Long-Term Substitute Early Childhood Teacher/Clerical

Location:

Community Education
Assignment Dates: 03/09/26 - 07/31/26. Dates are subject to change.

REPORTS TO:

Director and Assistant Director of Community Education

JOB GOAL:
To assist in the coordination of the Community Education Early Childhood Programs to ensure proper instruction and activities for students.

PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Plan/implement daily program for the class to meet the needs of the children.
  • Coordinate daily routine of activities, play time, meals and snacks.
  • Attend staff meetings and ongoing training.
  • Provide loving care and attention to each child and promote a healthy self-esteem in each child.
  • Supervise staff, including Early Childhood Teacher Aides and junior counselors.
  • Prepare for and participate in children’s evaluations and parent conferences as needed.
  • Maintain confidentiality.
  • Maintain a positive, professional attitude and serve as a positive role model for staff.
  • Perform other related activities as required or directed.
  • Accept and adhere to all guidelines set forth.
  • Report necessary problems and/or information to co-teacher or supervisor.
  • Attend and complete all required trainings.
  • Fill in to cover classroom staff absences.
  • Qualifications
  • Early Childhood Teacher Certification or completion of a three-credit Child Growth and Development course, or equivalent (college preferred)
  • Experience working with age appropriate students in a school setting.
  • Knowledge of classroom preparation and record keeping requirements.
  • Related school experience desirable.
  • Demonstrated aptitude or competence for assigned responsibilities.
  • Such alternatives to the above qualifications as may be found appropriate and acceptable by the Director of Community Education.
  • Evaluation:
    Performance of this job will be evaluated annually in writing by the Program Supervisor.

    Salary: $200 to $200 Per Day
