About The Role
Youth Support Worker – Multi‑Disciplinary Team. Fixed Term, Full Time – 37 hours per week. £25,580 – £26,924 per annum.
Location:
Chelmsford. Working style: community‑based worker.
Closing Date: 8 February 2026. This position is a fixed‑term contract until February 2028.
The TeamThe MDT consists of experts in housing, domestic abuse, education, drug and alcohol support, youth work and mental health. MDT workers bring specialist knowledge and therapeutic insight, helping families re‑engage, restore hope and foster lasting change.
The RoleYou will develop the Youth Service offer and work with identified young people exposed to exploitation, NEAT and other challenges. Provide group work packages and positive activities to empower young people to reach their full potential.
Accountabilities- Identify community needs for a youth work programme.
- Support commissioning of services to enhance young people’s independence.
- Negotiate with young people and communities on programme planning, implementation and evaluation.
- Promote the programme to ensure access for all.
- Involve young people in decision‑making and foster responsibility.
- Respond to individual and group needs, promoting self‑awareness and self‑esteem.
- Deliver direct youth work programmes, including residential experiences if required.
- Participate in management supervision and staff performance management.
- Follow Child Protection Guidelines and report concerns appropriately.
- Ensure duties comply with County Council Equal Opportunities Policy.
- Undertake reasonable duties commensurate with post level.
- Level 2 or above Youth Work Qualification, or willingness to undertake training.
- Good numeracy and literacy skills.
- Experience working with young people and communities.
- Relationship building and communication skills.
- Ability to work in a changing environment.
- Commitment to challenging prejudice and ignorance.
- Team working skills.
Mobile throughout Essex, with driving licence required.
