We are seeking a CIC Project Mentor who is passionate about empowering young people. The ideal candidate will have experience in youth work, support work, or working with young people who have additional needs or present challenging behaviours.

In this role, you will help young people develop essential life skills, build confidence, and engage socially with others while supporting their learning, pastoral, and behavioural targets. Success requires patience, resilience, and the ability to inspire positive change.

We are looking for motivated professionals who strive to meet each young person's individual needs. Our approach combines proven methodologies with sports-based activities to create engaging, impactful experiences that transform lives.

MAIN DUTIES, RESPONSIBILITIES and

ACCOUNTABILITIES
  • Plan and deliver engaging sessions using structured session plans tailored to the needs of young people.
  • Design and adapt session content to promote personal development, resilience, and positive outcomes.
  • Prioritize the emotional well-being of participants, demonstrating sensitivity and care at all times.
  • Support young people in developing self-regulation strategies to manage emotions and behavior effectively.
  • Utilize a variety of approaches and resources to create purposeful, inclusive sessions that foster positive attitudes, values, and learning opportunities.
  • Collaborate proactively with young people, parents/carers, colleagues, and external agencies to ensure holistic support and progress.
  • Safeguard children, young people, colleagues, and yourself in line with organizational and statutory requirements
  • Undertake any additional duties as directed by the Project Lead to support the success of the program.

SAFEGUARDING RESPONSIBILITIES

The post holder must:

  • Have a sound working knowledge of Child Protection issues and the need for confidentiality and identify to the named Child Protection colleague in Reach Group Community Projects CIC's any concerns in respect of individual children.
  • Be aware of and comply with policies and procedures relating to Child Protection, Health and Safety and Security, Confidentiality and Data protection, reporting all concerns to an appropriate named person.
  • Support the protocols and systems that are in place to address the needs of children with or any child in need as defined in the Children's Act
  • Ensure Safeguarding Procedures and the Common Assessment Framework are in place, are understood and are implemented within Reach Group Community Projects CIC's Ensure Child Protection procedures and processes are followed throughout Reach Group Community Projects CIC's
EFFECTIVE DEPLOYMENT OF STAFF AND RESOURCES
  • Maintain and develop resources, co-ordinating their development and monitor their effectiveness in meeting the objectives of Reach Group Community Projects CIC's and SEND policies
SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE
  • Strong understanding of the challenges faced by vulnerable young people and a commitment to supporting their personal development - Essential
  • Excellent communication skills (written and verbal), with the ability to build trust and rapport with young people and professionals - Essential
  • Reliable and well-organized, with strong time management and accurate reporting skills - Essential
  • Full UK driving licence to enable travel between community settings - Essential
  • Proven experience in mentoring and positive role modelling, supporting young people to achieve goals and overcome barriers - Essential
  • Knowledge of positive behaviour strategies and experience in helping young people self-regulate emotions and develop resilience - Essential
  • Legal right to work in the UK - Essential
  • Enhanced DBS check on the update service or willingness to undertake a new disclosure - Essential
  • Level 3 qualification in Youth Work or equivalent (or willingness to work towards) - Desirable
