Overview
HC-One are looking for an Assistant Chef with at least a Level 2 Food Hygiene Certificate and a good understanding of Hazard Analysis Critical Control Points. The role emphasizes your positive energy, reliability, organisation, and ability to follow recipes. You will communicate with Residents and co-workers in a kind and considerate way. A £1,000 welcome bonus is included.
Main duties of the jobIn your role as an Assistant Chef at HC-One, you will value kindness and support the delivery of nutritious, healthy meals across Dementia, Nursing, Residential and Specialist Care homes. You will provide outstanding support to the First Chef, take charge in their absence, manage food stock and budget, coach a colleague, and supervise kitchen clean-up, always with Resident wellbeing in mind.

You will be organised, meet deadlines, present food attractively, follow recipes accurately, and communicate with Residents and co-workers in a considerate way. You will provide support to the First Chef, manage food stock and budget, coach colleagues, and supervise kitchen clean-up.
The role includes a £1,000 welcome bonus.
Safeguarding is everyone’s responsibility. You must be able to recognise signs of possible abuse, harm, or neglect and know what to do if there are concerns. All colleagues must attend safeguarding training appropriate to their role and undertake additional training as needed. You should be able to seek appropriate advice and report concerns, including escalation if action is not taken.

This role requires a Level 2 Food Hygiene Certificate and good HACCP understanding; you should be capable, reliable, and team-oriented, with a focus on resident wellbeing and following procedures.
