Children's Residential Support Worker - Learning Disabilities, Autism & Trauma - Chelmsford
We are currently recruiting full-time Residential Support Workers to join a 4-bed children's home supporting young people aged 12-17 with learning disabilities and autism, many of whom have experienced significant trauma. This is a temp-to-perm opportunity based in Chelmsford.
Each young person lives in their own self-contained two-bedroom flat, allowing for highly individualised, person-centred care in a structured residential setting.
About the RoleAs a Residential Support Worker, you will provide consistent, trauma-informed care to young people with complex needs, supporting their emotional wellbeing, safety, and development.
Key responsibilities include:
- Supporting children with learning disabilities, autism, and challenging behaviours
- Delivering trauma-informed and person-centred care
- Supporting emotional regulation, positive coping strategies, and daily routines
- Managing behaviours that may be verbal, physical, or self‑injurious
- Assisting with personal care where required
- Supporting attendance at education, appointments, and activities
- Full UK driving licence essential – can travel to Chelmsford
- Experience working with children with learning disabilities, autism, and challenging behaviours
- Strong resilience, emotional intelligence, and ability to manage difficult days
- Passionate about supporting children with complex needs and trauma backgrounds
- Calm, consistent, and committed to providing high‑quality care
- Temp‑to‑perm opportunity
- £13.00 PAYE – £17.20 Umbrella
- £14.50 per hour when permanent
- Full‑time hours
- Flexibility to work days or nights
- Rolling Rota
