Job Summary
Little Waltham has an opportunity for a dispenser to join our busy pharmacy team at Brook Hill, working at the heart of our patient care service. This position is offered on a part‑time basis for 30 hours per week. Working hours are:
- Monday 8:30–5:30
- Tuesday 8:30–6:30
- Wednesday 1:30–6:30
- Friday 8:30–6:30
- Process all relevant prescriptions and repeat prescriptions as authorised by GPs and prescribing nurses
- Collect all due prescription charges and ensure that the patient declaration on the reverse of the FP10 is duly filled in and signed by the patient
- Process hospital letters
- Process dossette boxes
- Manage ordering stock and stock control
- Answer and deal with dispensary phone enquiries
- Monitor patients’ exemption status
- Sort and dispose of unwanted/returned medication
- Any other duties to assist in the smooth day‑to‑day running of the dispensary and surgery as directed by the dispensary manager or practice manager
We are a 2‑site, friendly training practice with over 21,000 patients. You will be supported by our team of 14 doctors, 3 nurse practitioners, nurses, healthcare assistants, receptionist, and admin team.

- At least an NVQ 2 Dispensary or equivalent Pharmacy Services qualification
- Excellent clinical and medication knowledge
- Understanding and experience of working as a dispenser in GP practice setting
- The commitment to continue to learn new clinical skills and develop your career
- The confidence to work as part of a busy GP multi‑disciplinary practice team and use your own initiative in decision making
- The ability to be adaptable and flexible in your approach
- Excellent patient‑facing inter‑personal communication skills
