Financial Controller

An established organisation within the infrastructure and engineering sector is seeking an experienced Financial Controller to lead its finance function. This is a senior, hands‑on role responsible for delivering robust financial reporting, overseeing core finance operations and providing clear, commercial insight to senior leadership and the Board.

The Role
Reporting into senior finance leadership, you will take ownership of month‑end management accounts, statutory reporting and audit processes, while leading and developing a finance team. You will play a key role in strengthening financial control, improving efficiency and supporting strategic decision‑making across the business.
This role manages a team of five, with responsibility for Payroll, Accounts Payable and Accounts Receivable.

Key Responsibilities

Own and deliver accurate, timely month‑end management accounts.
Report financial performance, cash position and project performance to senior stakeholders.
Oversee Payroll, Accounts Payable and Accounts Receivable, driving best‑practice processes.
Lead improvements and automation across finance systems, including SAP environments.
Manage statutory accounts and external audit processes.
Partner with commercial and operational teams to support project‑level reporting and insight.
Contribute to the development of improved reporting metrics and finance initiatives.

Experience & Qualifications

Fully qualified accountant (ACCA, CIMA, ACA or equivalent).
Strong background in management accounts, audit and financial reporting.
Commercially minded, with experience in project‑driven, infrastructure or engineering environments desirable.
Experience improving finance processes and systems, ideally within SAP.
Exposure to contract accounting, joint ventures or BI tools is advantageous.
Strong communicator with a passion for developing high‑performing teams.
